Air Cannon Service

At Applied Conveyor Technology (ACT), we keep material moving. Our air cannon service clears buildup in silos, bins, and chutes so your process runs steady and your crew stays out of the vessel.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Air Cannon Service by The ACT Group

At Applied Conveyor Technology (ACT), we understand what material buildup costs you. When product bridges in a silo, rat-holes through a bin, or hangs up on a chute wall, throughput drops, feed rates turn erratic, and eventually someone has to go in after it with a pole or an air lance. Air cannons solve that problem at the source, releasing a controlled blast of compressed air into the vessel that breaks material loose before it can consolidate. Our air cannon services cover the full life of that system, from the first process assessment through installation, sequencing, and ongoing maintenance, so material keeps moving and your crew stays out of the vessel.

Workplace Safety: Reliable flow means fewer confined-space entries and less manual poling on live equipment.

Consistent Throughput: Steady material movement protects feed rates, blend accuracy, and downstream production.

Equipment Protection: Controlled, sequenced firing relieves buildup without the structural stress of hammering vessel walls.

Our Air Cannon Services

Process assessment and system design: We walk your material handling process end to end, looking at vessel geometry, material characteristics, moisture, and where buildup actually forms. You receive a detailed written report with recommended cannon placement, tank sizing, nozzle selection, and firing sequence for your specific vessel.

Complete system installation: We install full Flash Cannon systems, including tanks, valves, nozzles, mounting pads, piping, and controls. Mounting hardware is fitted to the vessel wall so the blast reaches the bridging zone rather than venting into open space.

Retrofits and upgrades: Existing cannons rarely need to be torn out. We replace worn valves, leaking seals, and outdated control panels, and adapt older installations to current parts that still ship from stock.

Firing sequence tuning: Cannons that all fire at once waste air and do less work. We set the order and interval so each cannon fires into material that is actually moving, which lowers compressed air demand and reduces stress on the vessel.

Preventive maintenance and inspection: Our technicians inspect valves, seals, timers, and air supply on a schedule, catching leaks and drift before they turn into a plugged silo and an unplanned shutdown.

Emergency response and spare parts: When a cannon goes down mid-run, we keep valves, o-ring kits, gaskets, and mount hardware on the shelf and get a technician moving so material starts flowing again.

Industries We Serve

We provide air cannon solutions to operations that move difficult material every day. Buildup behaves differently in each one, and placement that works in a clinker silo will not necessarily work in a biomass bin, which is why every system starts with an assessment. Industries we serve include:

  • Cement Plants
  • Biomass Facilities
  • Food Processing Plants
  • Aggregates and Mining Operations
  • Proven Expertise: Over a decade of dedicated air cannon work, backed by 50 years of combined material handling experience across cement, aggregate, and biomass operations.
  • Custom Solutions: Systems engineered around your vessel geometry, your material, and your process conditions, including high-temperature and abrasive service.
  • One Accountable Team: Parts, service, and engineering come from a single call, so nothing falls between vendors when a system needs attention.
  • Commitment to Quality: Durable components, MSHA and OSHA trained technicians, and workmanship that holds up in the environments where cannons actually live.

Sequenced firing clears material before it bridges

DID YOU KNOW?

A bridged silo can cut live capacity without any warning

An air cannon is only as good as its firing sequence. Valves leak, timers drift, and nozzles wear. Routine service keeps the system moving material instead of just making noise.
