ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Vulcanizing & Splicing by The ACT Group

Vulcanized splicing joins conveyor belt ends into a smooth, continuous loop using heat, pressure, and time — producing a splice that is stronger, longer-lasting, and gentler on your system than mechanical fasteners. A properly vulcanized splice can approach the strength of the original belt.

The ACT Group performs hot vulcanized splicing on-site, along with belt installation, belt pulls, and emergency splice repair. Our MSHA & OSHA trained technicians work around your schedule — planned outages or emergency call-outs — to keep material moving.

Not sure whether vulcanizing or mechanical splicing is right for your operation? Our team will evaluate your belt, application, and downtime window and recommend the best approach for your budget.

A splice is only as strong as the crew that makes it

DID YOU KNOW?

A hot splice is nearly as strong as the belt itself

Properly vulcanized splices approach original belt strength — mechanical fasteners top out far lower. That difference is measured in downtime.

Your Splice, Your Way

Hot, Cold, or Mechanical — Spliced Right

While most belt vulcanizing companies “only splice,” ACT goes above and beyond. Our Fontana, CA warehouse is stocked with over 40 rolls of the most common belting in the industry plus mechanical fasteners of all types — and our crews pull and splice everything from massive heavy-duty, high-tension belts to smaller plant conveyors.

Hot Vulcanized Splicing

Heat, pressure, and time produce a smooth, continuous splice that approaches the strength of the original belt — the gold standard for critical, high-tension conveyors.

Cold Vulcanized Splicing

Chemical-bond splicing for applications where a portable press isn’t practical or downtime is tight — a strong, clean splice without the heat cycle.

Mechanical Splicing

Fast, dependable fastener splices for any location, accessibility, or weather — headlined by our #1 method, the Super-Screw® flexible rubber splice.

Every splice done 100% — no loose ends

The Works

When only the best will do: the full Pull & Splice service, plus we track the belt so it runs true like it was brand new. The best option when system longevity is the main focus.

Pull & Splice

Our standard practice: we remove guarding, adjust take-ups, back off cleaners — whatever it takes — then put everything back the way we found it, if not better.

Splice Only

Just the splice. You do the prep work, we splice. Geared toward the budget-conscious customer.

Every splice request includes belt removal and install, removal of idlers or other equipment required to splice, mechanical and vulcanized splice options, and belt tracking. Belt tracking is assessed during the bidding phase; extensive tracking is T&M or quoted prior to arrival.

Featured Splice & Repair Systems

Mechanical fasteners with vulcanized strength

SUPER-SCREW®

Our #1 mechanical splice: a flexible rubber splice that screws directly onto the belt. Self-drilling, self-tapping screws spread the carcass threads without cutting them — preserving belt integrity.

  • Installs in any location, any weather — no special tooling
  • Quick installation that slashes downtime
  • Belt tensions up to 2,000 PIW; high-heat belts up to 392°F
  • Flexible, leak-proof, and compatible with belt scrapers
  • Rubber options: MSHA, abrasion-resistant, stainless, high-heat, and more
FIX’N GO®

The easy, permanent repair for belt rips and tears — a screw-on rubber patch with higher abrasion resistance than most belts, so you repair instead of replace.

  • Repairs longitudinal rips, tears, holes, and edge damage
  • Also joins two belts lengthwise
  • For textile-carcass belts up to 1,250 N/mm
  • Anti-abrasion and heat-retardant versions
  • Installed with a drill and skiver — quick, permanent, done

“ACT’s crew went above and beyond to get our belt running properly. Their knowledgeable service technicians were professional, and ready to work from the moment they arrived…”
