The Stockpile · Pile 01 — The Services
The worst sources first, with the least capital — sealing, containment and targeted suppression.
Practical, source-by-source dust reduction for existing plants — the fixes that don’t require a capital project. Transfer-point sealing and skirting, belt support that closes the gaps skirting can’t, containment and enclosure, targeted suppression points, and housekeeping-driven changes that stop dust from being generated in the first place.
Mitigation attacks the worst sources first with the least capital. When the goal is a plant-wide engineered program, that is our dust control service. Many plants start here and grow into that.
| Source | Why it dusts | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer points | Falling material drags air; air exits with fines | Containment + settling zone, then fog |
| Truck & railcar dumps | Big displacement, open on four sides | Fog cannons / dry fog at the pocket |
| Crushers & screens | Energy liberates fines continuously | Enclose + fog; collect if indoors |
| Stockpiles & yards | Wind erosion, loader traffic | Area suppression, surface crusting, traffic discipline |
| Return-side conveyor | Carryback drying and shaking loose | Fix the belt cleaning — that dust is a cleaner problem |
The walk-down and recommendation list are part of the proposal process. You get a prioritized list — worst sources first, quick wins flagged — before committing to anything.
A sealed transfer point or a re-tensioned cleaner can eliminate a visible dust source in a day. Dust problems are usually five small sources, not one big one.
No — that is explosion protection (NFPA). But less fugitive dust always helps the combustible-dust picture, and the two services often run together.
Reading about it is free. So is the phone call. Some answers only come from climbing into the equipment — that’s the part we do in person. Tell us the plant, the part and the problem, and you’ll get a real person.
