What this service covers

Practical, source-by-source dust reduction for existing plants — the fixes that don’t require a capital project. Transfer-point sealing and skirting, belt support that closes the gaps skirting can’t, containment and enclosure, targeted suppression points, and housekeeping-driven changes that stop dust from being generated in the first place.

Typical wins

  • The dusty transfer point. Sealed with skirting, belt support and dust curtains — a one-day fix in many cases.
  • Carryback dust. A properly tensioned cleaner system stops dust you didn’t know was belt-borne.
  • Loadout clouds. Fill-point suppression and containment where trucks and railcars load.
  • The one machine fogging the building. A single capture point ducted to an existing or small dedicated collector.

The mitigation ladder

  • 1. Don’t make the dust — drop heights, chute design, belt speeds, material moisture.
  • 2. Keep it in the process — skirting, enclosures, settling zones.
  • 3. Knock it down at the source — suppression where it escapes anyway.
  • 4. Capture what’s left — collection for the fine fraction and the indoor spaces.
  • Most plants try to start at rung 4. The cheap wins live on rungs 1 and 2.

What does a mitigation visit cost to scope?

The walk-down and recommendation list are part of the proposal process. You get a prioritized list — worst sources first, quick wins flagged — before committing to anything.

Can small fixes really matter?

A sealed transfer point or a re-tensioned cleaner can eliminate a visible dust source in a day. Dust problems are usually five small sources, not one big one.

Is this the combustible-dust service?

No — that is explosion protection (NFPA). But less fugitive dust always helps the combustible-dust picture, and the two services often run together.
