Drum Pulleys for Every Duty

From Heavy Duty and Quarry Duty through Mine Duty and true Engineered Class, Douglas drum pulleys are built from single-piece rolled rims or solid steel tube, welded with the end discs into one rigid assembly. Hubs and bushings are fully interchangeable with XT® and QD® styles, with keyless locking elements and stainless options available — so replacements drop onto your existing shafting without surprises.

Wing Pulleys That Clean Themselves

At the tail, fugitive material is the enemy. Douglas self-cleaning wing pulleys use an engineered gusset angle to throw material away from the pulley and belt, and a heavy round contact bar that resists wing folding, protects the belt’s bottom cover from cuts, and lasts up to three times longer than flat-bar wings. Step up to the patented Vortex® Spiral Clean pulley for spiral-groove self-cleaning that also helps belt tracking, or the Integra™ series — drum and wing pulleys with sealed-for-life bearings and up to 33% higher load ratings from reduced bearing centers. Need it turnkey? 1Source™ assemblies arrive with pulley, shaft, and bearings engineered and installed as a single unit.

Lagging: Traction, Tracking, and Pulley Life

Lagging is the wear surface between pulley face and belt: it boosts traction, cuts belt slippage, improves tracking, and shields the pulley from abrasion. Douglas applies vulcanized rubber lagging in-house in computer-controlled autoclaves with a patented bonding process — giving up to 50% more grip than a bare pulley.

  • Vulcanized rubber — standard SBR at 60–65 Shore A in 1/4” to 3/4” thicknesses; plain, herringbone, or diamond grooving to shed water and fines; special durometers (40A, 80A) and compounds including MSHA-rated, Nitrile, Neoprene, and EPDM.
  • Ceramic — ceramic tiles molded in rubber deliver up to twice the friction of a bare pulley and roughly 50% more than rubber lagging — virtually eliminating slippage and letting you run lower belt tension.
  • Replaceable Rim Lagging™ (RRL™) — patented rubber-on-steel segments that weld or bolt on in the field, no pulley pull, no belt removal — up to 70% labor savings versus other replaceable systems. Replaceable wing lagging available too.

Take-Ups and the Rest of the Package

Belt stretch is inevitable — slack doesn’t have to be. Douglas builds seven take-up styles in welded steel with Acme-thread rods (Slide Tube™, top angle, center pull, heavy- and light-duty top mount, wide-slot side mount, and automatic scissors-pivot gravity units), all accepting standard pillow-block bearings. Round out the conveyor with galvanized conveyor covers, patented Guardian™ return-roll guards that cage the pinch point and catch a dropped roll, magnetic separators, and Titan™ impact beds.
